Ohio State baseball adds pitcher from transfer portal

A homecoming for the New Albany native #GoBucks

The Ohio State baseball team has added a pitcher via the transfer portal this week. Spencer Hill announced his commitment to the Buckeyes via social media.

Hill is a central Ohio native growing up in the northwest suburb of New Albany. A 2020 graduate, Hill spent a post-graduate season at Bridgeton Academy where he posted a 2-0 record with 13 strikeouts in a COVID-19-shortened season. From there Hill headed to Northern Illinois for a year before landing at UNC-Asheville.

While in Ashville, the 6-4 right-hander made 28 appearances for the Bulldogs. He posted a 10.18 ERA while striking out 21 batters in 20 innings of work.

Hill will most likely continue his work as a specialist out of the bullpen for newly hired head coach Justin Haire. Coach Haire would be familiar with Hill from his time at Campbell University where his teams squared off against UNC Ashville several times.
