After being absent for a few weeks, Ohio State is back in the conversation when talking about College Football Playoff contenders. At least when it comes to ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s opinion.
The loss to Oregon put a damper on the hopes for the Buckeye football season. But as any good program does, the OSU coaching staff has made adjustments and now Ohio State is functioning like a well-oiled machine.
The offense has been elite all season long with the defense having some big question marks. However, the silver bullets have looked like a completely different unit since Ryan Day shuffled the coaching staff moving Kerry Coombs to the booth and handing over the defensive coordinator reins to secondary coach Matt Barns.
There is reason for optimism in Columbus again. The Buckeyes likely control their own destiny at this point. With several highly ranked opponents left on the schedule, it would be hard to leave a one-loss, Big Ten Champion out of the CFP.
