PASS. Banking on a home upset of a Top-25 team is risky business.
While Ohio State’s +380 price offers some value based on how well it has played this season, I’d prefer the points for the best wager in this Big Ten battle, especially as Purdue has just one home loss on the season.
Against the spread
LEAN to OHIO STATE +9.5 (-108).
For a Big Ten battle between two quality teams, an almost double-figure spread is far too much. The Buckeyes have taken down teams like Duke, Wisconsin and Penn State.
Ohio State ranks No. 39 in 3-point efficiency, while Purdue struggles to limit teams from deep, allowing them to shoot 32.8% to rank 160th in the nation.
Similarly, Purdue’s offense is elite, averaging 50.6% from the field and 40.9% from 3, but Ohio State is holding opponents to just 40.8% from the field.
The Buckeyes should be able to play to the Boilermakers’ weakness, which should at least make this game competitive.

This is my favorite play of the game as Purdue’s offense is no joke.
It ranks fourth in points per game, third in field-goal percentage and fourth in 3-point percentage in the nation. The Boilermakers have notched or topped 80 points in 4 of their last 5 games. They’re 12-8 O/U this season.
The Buckeyes are 11-6 O/U. They’ve scored 75 or more in 3 of their last 5 and are averaging 75.1 PPG. A Top-25 team in terms of field-goal rate, if this is a high-paced game, which it’s expected to be, the shooting should bode well for them to score more.
