Ohio State adds linebacker out of transfer portal

Ohio State has landed a key depth piece at linebacker. #GoBucks

There has certainly been more early activity in the transfer portal for Ohio State than we’ve seen in year’s past, especially considering the Buckeyes are in the throws of a College Football Playoff national championship chase.

We’ve seen a good amount of players enter their names into the portal, but we’ve also seen some pledge their commitment to OSU coming in to provide some help and assistance for the future. The latest to do that is former Duquesne linebacker, Ty Howard.

Howard earned first-team All-NEC honors at Duquesne this season after totaling 52 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions. He is the older brother of Ohio State 2025 running back commit, Bo Jackson.

Though all players are given an opportunity compete, Howard should be more of a depth player for the linebacker position with Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese, C.J. Hicks, Payton Pierce, and Garrett Stover all likely coming back, as well as a fantastic batch of freshman on the way.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on the transfer portal is it both gives and receives during this so-called offseason, so check back often.
