Former Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, aka Ochocinco, and Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White had some prior exchanged messages on social media via their Twitter accounts. The two went back and forth about if White could cover Johnson. They appeared to be joking around in a friendly manner but Johnson mentioned White once again on social media recently.
This time it was nothing but praise.
Over the weekend, Johnson had a question sent his way from a Bills fan asking if White will stay in Buffalo beyond his current contract. White is currently slated to be with the Bills through the 2021 season as the team picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.
Johnson didn’t exactly answer the question but did call White one of the best of the best and said he should be “compensated as such.” Here’s his message:

All indications show that Johnson is probably correct and we will see that happen with White, and most likely in Buffalo. White’s a cornerstone piece of the Bills’ secondary, one of the most dominant in the NFL. The secondary, led by White and safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer since 2017, is perhaps the biggest reason why Buffalo’s defense has landed in the top-three overall defenses in the NFL in recent seasons.
And good news for White, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane has often gone on record stating his desire to “take care of” the Bills’ own players, aka, getting them re-signed with the team. That’ll cost the club a big pay day, one which is likely well worth it.
But there’s further evidence that Johnson likes what he sees in White. Both on the field and on… the ice.
White has his famous “goalie academy” in Buffalo. The team and White like to have fun saying the defender is also a goalie in hockey since the Bills and NHL’s Buffalo Sabres share the same co-owners in Terry and Kim Pegula. This past weekend The Checkdown shared a video of White plugging the “Tre White goalie academy” during his intro on primetime.
On his own Twitter account, Johnson also responded to The Checkdown‘s video and said “my dawg multi-talented.” Big time love right there.
