This Martin Luther King Jr. Day will feature games played throughout the day. Probably all of them will pay tribute to the civil rights leader who worked so hard to make life better for people of all races. One such game will include Notre Dame, which is taking a break from its ACC schedule to play a nationally televised matinee at Howard. This marks the first time the Irish have played a historically Black college or university on the road.

This season, the Irish have won almost every game in which the following has taken place:

  • The Irish have shot better than their opponent.
  • The Irish make at least 10 3-pointers.
  • An Irish player scores at least 20 points.
  • The margin of the final score is five points or less.

This game also will be a homecoming of sorts for Mike Brey. He played his senior season (1981-82) at George Washington, which is located only two miles from Howard.
