Notre Dame players Bertrand, Cole named to All-ACC teams

Congratulations to the honorees.

While Notre Dame waits for the ACC Tournament to begin, it can enjoy the all-conference honors being bestowed upon two of its players. For the second straight season, left-handed pitcher [autotag]John Michael Bertrand[/autotag] has been named to the All-ACC First Team. Additionally, outfielder [autotag]Ryan Cole[/autotag] has made the All-ACC Third Team. Both have played significant roles in the Irish’s 33-13 record.

Bertrand, the ace of the Irish’s rotation, has a 7-2 record with a 2.62 ERA and 86 strikeouts over 81 1/3 innings pitched. Nine of his 13 starts have seen him go at least six innings, and he has given up three or fewer earned runs in 10 of those starts. It shouldn’t be surprising that he’s the first Irish Notre Dame to make the All-ACC First Team in consecutive years since the Irish joined the conference.

Cole has started every game this season and for good reason. His program-leading 18 stolen bases are fourth in the conference, and he also ranks second on the team with nine home runs and 53 hits.
