Ricky Watters helped Notre Dame to a national championship in 1988 before really becoming a star for the Irish in the 1989 and ’90 seasons. After his four years of school he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and despite getting close to a Super Bowl appearance very early in his career, it wasn’t until Super Bowl XXIX that he and the 49ers made it to the big game.
Watters three touchdown receptions in the 49ers 49-26 win over the San Diego Chargers in Miami still stand as a record for most touchdown receptions in a single Super Bowl.
