Notre Dame Football: National and Super Bowl Champs

As we sit just days away from the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers strapping up to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, we’ll be having some sporatic fun here at Fighting Irish Wire in terms of former Notre Dame players and coaches who have had an impact on “The Big Game”.

Bob Kuechenberg played on Notre Dame’s offensive line in 1966 before getting drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1969.  He however quit the Eagles to pursue a career in the Continental Football League.

SUPER BOWL VII

That lasted just one season however and Kuechenberg would sign with the Miami Dolphins, going on a historic 15 year career with them that included four Super Bowl appearances, winning twice, including being a key part of the 1972 team that remains the only to go unbeaten en-route to a Super Bowl title.
