Notre Dame baseball finishes their weekend tilt against Wake Forest with a win

The Irish salvage the finale

It wasn’t the best second ACC series for [autotag]Notre Dame baseball[/autotag] but it wasn’t all lost. The Irish battled host Demon Deacons, getting a 3-1 win on getaway day, salving was could have been a very bad weekend.

Notre Dame lost the first two games of the series to [autotag]Wake Forest[/autotag], but didn’t let the previous two make a difference in the series finale. The Irish scored two runs early and a third one later as the pitchers held off the Deacons bats.

[autotag]Brooks Coetzee[/autotag] had two big RBI hits and [autotag]Carter Putz[/autotag] had the other. Notre Dame pitchers [autotag]Jack Findlay[/autotag] and [autotag]Blake Hely[/autotag] led the staff through seven innings, not allowing a run. The Deacons would score one but the Irish got the victory, 3-1.

The win keeps the Irish over .500 at 9-8, with a 2-4 record in ACC play. They will finally play in front of their home fans at [autotag]Frank Eck Stadium[/autotag] on Tuesday as they are set to host [autotag]Valparaiso[/autotag] with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST.
