The Bills did not receiver any extra compensatory draft picks from the NFL on Tuesday when the league announced those for 2020 NFL Draft. That was to be expected for the Bills.
A team is given those when it loses more qualifying free agents than it gains in the offseason prior. The Bills added a lot via free agency last year, so that’s why they didn’t get any. In total, 10 players were added by the Bills in free agency last offseason. The NFL has never publicly released the exact system for figuring out the compensatory system, though.
The last time the Bills received any was ahead of the 2016 NFL Draft. In regard to this year’s picks, the Patriots received a league-high four picks. The highest compensatory pick a team can land from the league is in Round 3 of the draft and they can appear from rounds 3-7, not the first two.

The Bills do have nine total picks throughout the seven-round draft, though. Buffalo’s two extra picks come via the Browns in Round 5 (Wyatt Teller trade) and sixth round from the Patriots (Russell Bodine trade). The Bills actually have three total picks in the sixth round and none in the seventh-round, though. Their third sixth rounder also comes via the Teller trade.
