No. 7 Texas survives overtime thriller against No. 23 Kansas State

The Texas Longhorns improve to 8-1 as they find a way to beat Kansas State.

The Texas Longhorns managed to clinch a thrilling overtime victory against the Kansas State Wildcats with a final score of 33-30.

Despite having a strong start to the game, Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy struggled throughout the final three quarters and threw two interceptions. Though he was fortunate to have the K-State defenders drop some of his potential picks, Murphy’s performance was less than ideal.

With a 20-point lead, it looked like the Longhorns were cruising to an easy win, but a sudden surge by the Wildcats saw them catch up and tie the game at 30.

Texas’ inability to finish drives continued to be a problem in overtime, only managing a field goal on their first and only possession.

Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman then made a gutsy decision to go for it on fourth down in overtime but failed to convert. Texas’ defense came up clutch numerous times throughout the game, none bigger than the key third and fourth down stops in overtime.

Good teams find ways to win football games, and that’s what the Longhorns did as they improved to 8-1 on the year.

Texas running back Jonathon Brooks recorded another 100-yard rushing performance, while wide receiver Adonai Mitchell hauled in eight receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown.
