No. 4 Notre Dame bests Georgia Tech: 5 Takeaways

What was there to takeaway from Saturday’s 31-13 Notre Dame win at Georgia Tech? We do exactly that right here as it’s now Clemson week.

Dominating Defense Leads the Way

October 31, 2020 Atlanta – Georgia Tech’s quarterback Jeff Sims (10) runs with the ball during the second half of an NCAA college football game at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Stop if you’ve heard this one before:  Notre Dame’s defense was again outstanding Saturday.

Whether it was by allowing just 88 yards on 33 attempts to Georgia Tech or by allowing just 238 total yards of offense all day Notre Dame’s defense did what it was supposed to do against a mediocre team:  dominate.

Daelin Hayes led the unit, specifically in the second half as he played what I think was his best game at Notre Dame.  Kyle Hamilton was also strong as always, this time in a homecoming of sorts for him, securing a pair of tackles for loss and batting a pass away.

Notre Dame’s defense is playing as well as any in the country and will be relied on heavily next week to try and pull the upset against Clemson.
