No. 4 Notre Dame bests Georgia Tech: 5 Takeaways

What was there to takeaway from Saturday’s 31-13 Notre Dame win at Georgia Tech? We do exactly that right here as it’s now Clemson week.

It’s Clemson Week

No matter what anyone says or what they claim, it’s only natural to be looking ahead to No. 1 Clemson coming to your building next week and after dominating pretty much everywhere but the scoreboard the first 40 or so minutes of Saturday’s game, I feel that’s what you saw by Notre Dame.

Looking ahead to Clemson.

Brian Kelly admitted to the press after the game that Clemson was immediately mentioned in the post-game locker room.

“We talked about Clemson,” Brian Kelly said. “We’ve been waiting to play Clemson. We wanted to play Clemson when we upped our performance level.”

Kelly thought last week at Pitt was when the performance level upped and also thought that level dipped against Georgia Tech.

I’m not one to make excuses but it’s human nature in this case.  When you mentally prepare with a “what do we have to do to beat Clemson?” type of attitude and when the next game has been circled on your calendar since the day last season ended, it’s natural to sleep-walk a bit through chunks of a game against a 2-4 opponent the week before.

It wasn’t pretty but it didn’t have to be.  Notre Dame improved to 6-0 this week and the Irish are undefeated as they welcome the recent standard in college football to South Bend on Saturday.

LET’S.  GO.
