No. 21 Texas vs. No. 17 Oklahoma State preview and pitching matchups

Texas and Oklahoma State face off in a massive Big 12 series this weekend.

A top-25 Big 12 baseball showdown is set to take place between No. 21 Texas (19-7, 3-0) and No. 17 Oklahoma State (20-6, 4-2) this weekend in Stillwater.

The Longhorns are riding high on a 15-game win streak entering this series, while Oklahoma State is coming off a sweep of Baylor and a midweek loss to Dallas Baptist.

Texas’ bats have come alive over the past few weeks. The Horns are hitting .329 with 25 home runs during its winning streak. Peyton Powell and Porter Brown are anchoring Texas’s offensive attack of late.

The pitching staff has been solid all season long for the Longhorns. Friday night starter Lucas Gordon has taken another step in the right direction. Gordon is on pace for a career year, boasting a 1.65 ERA in six starts.

Behind Gordon, Texas’ pitching is finding their roles. David Pierce’s move of Zane Morehouse to the bullpen is paying off so far. The Sunday starter job is still up for grabs, with Charlie Hurley and Lebarron Johnson Jr. likely competing for the nod.

The winner of this series would position themselves in a front-runner spot in the Big 12 title race.

Here is a look at the probable weekend starters for Texas and Oklahoma State.
