No. 1 offensive tackle in 2023 class includes Texas in top schools

Texas is in the mix for the nation’s top offensive tackle prospect for the 2023 cycle.

Texas is in the mix for the top offensive tackle prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

After earning over 30 scholarship offers, five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor released his first top schools list on Wednesday. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman attends Southeast Polk High School and is rated the No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Iowa.

The Longhorns extended an offer to Proctor on April 29 and are among the final 12 schools left in his recruitment. Texas is joined by Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Iowa State, Clemson, Iowa, Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas A&M.

247Sports national analyst Allen Trieu recently evaluated Proctor and compared his game to former first round NFL draft pick Ronnie Stanley.

Prototypical height, length and size. Lines up at left tackle and currently projects as a future college blind side protector. Good natural athlete. Shows explosiveness off the ball, twitch and quickness for a big man. Gets out of his stance quickly in pass protection. Has strength and a powerful punch. Can run and get out in front of plays to make blocks in space. Shows few glaring weaknesses, but can still tweak technique and steaily improve on testing numbers. Is a high-end prospect who can play for any school in the country and has the upside and work ethic to play beyond that.

The nation’s No. 5 overall prospect for the 2023 cycle has visited Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Arizona State, and Arizona this year.
