No. 1 2022 dual-threat QB decommits from South Carolina

The No. 1 rated dual-threat QB in the class of 2022 has decommitted from South Carolina. What does this mean for Georgia football?

Gunner Stockton, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2022, has decommitted from the University of South Carolina.

Stockton, the 6-foot-1, 220 pound Tiger, Georgia native wants to reassess his options after a number of personnel changes have occurred with the Gamecocks.  The biggest one, which is most likely Stockton’s reason for his decommittment, is the firing of head coach Will Muschamp earlier this season.

Stockton released his statement via his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Now why is this so important to Georgia football?

Prior to Stockton’s commitment to South Carolina, his top two schools were South Carolina and Georgia.  Stockton is a Georgia native and could very well decide to come play ball for Kirby Smart in Athens.

The Dawgs quarterback room is a bit slim for the future believe it or not.  J.T. Daniels locked up the starting spot this year and highly sought after recruit Brock Vandagriff will be coming in next year.

Right now 247Sports experts predict a 50/50 split between Stockton signing with Auburn or back to South Carolina.  UGA Wire will keep you updated on all news Gunner Stockton as this story unravels.
