Sophomore Crimson Tide running back Jase McClellan was seen on the sidelines sporting crutches during the fourth quarter of Alabama’s 42-21 win against Ole Miss on Saturday. Early reports indicated that he was suffering from a knee injury, and the initial prognosis from Saban after the game was “not good”.
During his weekly Monday press conference, Saban was asked by AL.com’s Michael Casagrande on Jase McClellan’s status.
“He has a knee [injury], he’ll be out for the year and he’ll have surgery [on Tuesday],” Saban said.
This is devastating news for the Crimson Tide. McClellan had earned 191 yards on 40 touches, getting into the endzone once on the season. This volume of production will be missed for the rest of the season while McClellan recovers from his surgery.
In the meantime, we should see some more production from Roydell Williams and Trey Sanders.
