Any Ohio State fan knows that beating Michigan is at the top of the pyramid goal of any season. Some would even argue that beating the Wolverines is more important than winning a College Football Playoff national championship.
This season, after the fourth-straight loss to “That Team Up North,” many outside of Buckeye Nation — and even some within — have been very critical of the so-called lunatic fringe OSU fans that live and die by what happens on the last Saturday in November.
Count former Alabama head coach and current ESPN College GameDay crew member, Nick Saban in that camp now as well.
While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show this past week, Saban (as only he can do) railed on Ohio State fans for a “psychotic obsession” with Michigan. Instead of focusing on the loss, Saban believes the OSU fans should get behind the team and root for the bigger prize.
“These Ohio State fans, you know, they got a psychotic obsession with Michigan,” Saban said. “And they need to go get therapy or something to try to get it fixed because they have a chance to win the national championship. And here you are, you know, nobody is excited about their opportunity to play because they lost to Michigan.”

If you follow us much, you know that we do indeed believe Saban has a point. Of course, nobody is happy about the script being flipped over the last few years in the rivalry, but there’s still the ultimate prize out there. The Buckeyes still have the talent and depth to win the whole thing, and OSU fans should be interested and excited for what this team can do.
