Nic Claxton out for training camp, dealing with knee tendinopathy

No longer a rookie, the Brooklyn Nets forward Nic Claxton has been sidelined again.

Nic Claxton was among the members of the Nets who could not participate in the bubble after having undergone successful arthroscopic labrum repair surgery on his left shoulder in late June.

However, that’s not why the 2019 Brooklyn draft pick will sit out the remainder of the camp. Claxton is now dealing with a knee problem.

The team released the following statement on Sunday:

After experiencing discomfort during the workouts this week, Nets forward/center Nic Claxton was diagnosed with right knee tendinopathy. Claxton is unavailable to participate in training camp and will begin a rehabilitation and strengthening program.

“Tendinopathy” is more commonly known as tendonitis.

The team did not provide a timetable on Claxton’s return.

As a rookie, the forward played in 15 games for the Nets. He averaged 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while playing 12.5 minutes a night. Claxton’s best stat line came against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 18 when he scored 14 points, grabbed six boards and blocked three shots in his 19 minutes of action.
