Earlier this week, we got some updates on NFL fans being in stadiums as the 2020 NFL season begins. There was also an update on that same situation in Orchard Park for the Bills.
The Chiefs announced this week they plan to reduce the capacity of Arrowhead Stadium to around 22 percent for the 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, face masks will be mandatory for all fans in attendance. This includes their season opener, the first game of the 2020 NFL season, against the Titans.
That 22 percent equals roughly 16,800 fans in the 76,416 seating capacity of the Chiefs’ venue and the team has announced health and safety regulations for those planning to attend games.
Some of those, via Chiefs Wire, include:
- Arrowhead Stadium going completely cashless.
- All bags, including previously approved clear bags, are prohibited.
- Masks are required to be worn at all times except when eating or drinking.
- Tailgating will be allowed, but social distancing will be required.
- Ticket resale is prohibited.
In regard to the Bills, season ticket holders received a survey on Monday. A letter from the team asked fans for their opinions on attending games with social distancing requirements and other health protocols. The Bills will probably wait for the answers to that survey before making a decision. In addition, New York State issued guidelines prohibiting fans from attending live sporting events last month and at this time that hast yet to be updated. Buffalo’s season opener is on Sept. 13 against the Jets. The Chiefs-Titans league opener is only a few days prior to that, on Sept. 10, on Thursday Night Football.
