The Dallas Cowboys drafted Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons with the No. 12 overall pick during the 2021 NFL draft last week. The draft pick of Parsons has been received with a little bit of a mix of reactions, but there have been plenty of positive reviews of the draft pick by Jerry Jones and company.
Among the latest positive reviews to be written about the trade comes from NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein, who labeled the pick one of his three favorite picks of the first round. Being able to trade down and still secure one of the top defensive players on the board going into the draft was an easy win for the Cowboys according to Zierlein.
“The Cowboys did a great job finessing the first round, moving down two spots and acquiring a third-round pick while still landing the premier alpha defender in the draft,” Zierlein wrote about the pick. He then went on to make quite the comparisons that will be music to the ears of Penn State fans.

“If you ever wondered what it’d be like to watch Saquon Barkley play linebacker, well, that’s Parsons in a nut shell thanks to his lower-body build and outrageous speed from sideline to sideline,” Zierlein continued.
Now that is some lofty praise.
By comparison, Pro Football Focus came away thinking the Cowboys could have done better at the No. 12 spot in the draft.
It was announced on Wednesday that Parsons will continue to wear the No. 11, the number he wore at Penn State, with the Cowboys.
