NFL Draft: Two Longhorns named to Senior Bowl Top 250

Two members of the 2020 Texas Longhorns football team have been named on the Reese’s Senior Bowl top 250 list for the NFL Draft.

The NFL Draft process has already began for some athletes. Especially those who won’t be playing in the fall. For others they are focused on the impending regular season. Much like the NFL Draft, the process for the Reese’s Senior Bowl begins in the offseason. Recently the Senior Bowl staff put together their Top 250 players they are considering for an invite.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger made the decision to come back for his senior season. It was rumored that he was considering a jump to the NFL when he submitted work to the NFL Advisory Board prior to the NFL Draft declare deadline. He ultimately decided to stay for his senior season which was probably all for the best. Ehlinger needed to improve some areas of his game to increase his draft stock.

Prior to the Top 250 list being release, Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy tweeted out his excitement to watch Ehlinger this year.

This will be a huge season for Ehlinger, a big year will help him with how NFL view him as a prospect. Sam was listed along with 15 other quarterbacks on the list. Another quarterback to make the list is Shane Buechele. The former Longhorn will probably always be linked to Ehlinger, at least for the foreseeable future.

Tarik Black, Wide Receiver

The newest face on the 2020 Texas Longhorns football team, Tarik Black was also placed on the top 250. Black comes over from Michigan where he played in three disappointing seasons for the Wolverines. His first two seasons in Ann Arbor were less than thrilling playing in a combined six games.

Last season Black appeared in 11 games but only caught 25 passes in a reduced role. He finished with 323 yards and one touchdown. Now in Austin, Black has a chance to bring the same level of excitement as when he signed with Michigan. He has already made a splash on the practice field on the Forty Acres.

This play shows just what Black is capable of for the Longhorns.
