NFL Draft analyst predicts potential landing spots for Oklahoma NFL prospects

Oklahoma will yet again have several top prospects in this year’s NFL draft. Here are his top landing spots for the Sooners’ top prospects.

After another successful offensive season, and a much improved defense under Alex Grinch, Oklahoma is again primed and ready to send several top prospects into the NFL Draft. The Sooners have a wide range of talent this year on both offense and defense, from high-flying CeeDee Lamb to speedy Kenneth Murray. Lance Zierlein, a media draft analyst for NFL.com, was in Norman for Oklahoma’s pro day, checking out the Sooners’ talent. Here are his top landing spots for the Sooners’ top prospects.

CeeDee Lamb

Draft projection: Round 1

With the amount of talent at the top of this year’s draft, determining where Lamb will land is tricky. The Jets are currently in search for a WR1 to pair with up-and-coming franchise QB Sam Darnold. The Cardinals were thought to be looking at Lamb, but could opt to go a different direction after acquiring DeAndre Hopkins in a trade with Houston on Monday. The Raiders could also be in search after Antonio Brown didn’t work out.

Jalen Hurts

Draft projection: Round 3

Finding a fit for Hurts is more tricky than Oklahoma’s last two quarterbacks to enter the draft. Most teams will potentially to looking to use Hurts in a backup role. Zierlein believes that the Ravens and Saint could possibly be at the top of that list. Hurts could thrive in the same scheme as Lamar Jackson, and backing up Drew Brees could prove extremely beneficial for a rookie quarterback.

Kenneth Murray

Draft projection: Round 1

Murray suffered a hamstring injury while running at the NFL Scouting Combine. Zierlein believes his fits are with the Jaguars, Packers and Panthers. Murray’s speed will be the main factor in team’s interest with him. Green Bay could use a boost of speed, as well as the Panthers following Luke Kuechly’s retirement.

Neville Gallimore

Draft projection: Round 2-3

At defensive tackle, Gallimore has the opportunity to be a good fit for several teams. In both the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine, he has only continued to trend up. The Chargers, Lions and Seahawks could use the quickness that Gallimore displayed the combine when he ran a 4.79.
