The JAZZ (-250) are the far better team here and are on a six-game win streak. With the No. 3 scoring defense in the NBA, Utah can shut down even the most explosive offenses. Meanwhile, New Orleans has been struggling on offense this season despite all of their talent. They are averaging just 107 points per game this year, the seventh-fewest in the NBA.
This game will likely be slightly more competitive than what we saw two days ago, but take the Jazz to win again in this Western Conference matchup.
Against the spread (ATS)
The JAZZ (-6.5) are three-basket favorites over the Pelicans Thursday night, and that feels a bit low. During their six-game win streak, they’ve won five of their games by double digits. The only “close” contest they had was a four-point win over the Denver Nuggets. It’s also worth mentioning that Utah has covered in all six of those games as they are really hitting on all cylinders right now. Take the Jazz to win and cover this 6.5-point spread.
Over/Under (O/U)
The total for this game is set at 217.5 points, which feels low. After 220 points were scored in the last meeting, you would think the line would be slightly higher. But the Pelicans can be so streaky on offense that it’s no wonder why this line isn’t higher. However, we’ve seen the Pelicans have success on offense after scoring 128 points against the Kings Sunday afternoon. If they can notch around 105 Thursday, the OVER 217.5 should hit with relative ease.
