The Nevada Wolf Pack (11-7, 3-4 Mountain West) and Utah State Aggies (16-2, 6-1) tangle Wednesday in Logan. The opening tip at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum will be at 9 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Nevada vs. Utah State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.
Nevada has played excellent defense in winning each of its last 3 games straight up and against the spread (ATS). Over those last 3 contests, the Wolf Pack has yielded just 64.0 points per game on a 38.2% mark from the floor. Before the win streak Nevada had dropped 4 straight games, including a 69-64 home game against Utah State Dec. 31 (ATS loss on a -3.5).
The Aggies, which this week dropped out of the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, head into this game off just their second loss of the season. They were stymied 65-62 last Wednesday at the 3.5-point underdog UNLV Rebels. Then-No. 22 Utah State was undone, in part, by going just 8-of-15 at the free throw line. USU is shooting just 49.1% on such looks over its last 3 games.

Against the spread
The Dec. 31 meeting was a taut one. The Aggies had to rally from a first-half-deficit, and most of the final 10 minutes of play were contested in a 4-to-6-point spread. And that was with the Wolf Pack, a team that generates a lot of looks the the free-throw line, attempting just 12 foul shots.
Nevada is quite good on the defensive glass and figures to get enough production from distance to keep this game in the 5- or 6-point range. That makes for a sliver of a lean on NEVADA +6.5 (-115).
Over/Under
The last 4 games for each side have seen the Over go 3-1.
The Wolf Pack plays at a deliberate pace, and the first meeting did land on the Under 145, but peg that game’s total as being a solid projection for this one. Both sides have a high-frequency free-throw rates. Those points and the extra Nevada 3 or so in a projected late comeback bid tilt the value here to the OVER 141.5 (-115).
