NCAA Tournament: Lady Vols advance with victory over North Carolina

Tennessee’s volleyball team has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Lady Vols moved on with a four-set victory over North Carolina Friday.

Tennessee eliminated the Tar Heels with a 25-20, 25-19, 24-26, 25-15 victory at Corvelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Lady Vols (20-9) will now face host Ohio State Saturday at 6 p.m. EST and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.

Breana Runnels led Tennessee against the Tar Heels (21-9) with 20 kills, 10 digs and one ace.

Defensively, Paola Laborda had a career-high 18 digs and Morgahn Fingall finished with 11 digs. Laborda also finished the match with six assists.

UT senior Lily Felts finished the match with nine kills, 12 digs, three assists and two aces.

Natalie Hayward was the Lady Vols’ leading passer as she had 33 assists and totaled seven blocks and two aces.

Ava Bell had six kills and nine blocks, while Danielle Mahaffey added four blocks.
