It’s an underrated and undervalued position but it can blow up a lot of things if you don’t have a good one. We’re talking about the long snapper position, and the Ohio State football program just received a commitment from one of the best to do it at the high school level.
Out of Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, Morrow Evans announced his commitment to the Buckeyes over Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Recruiting services don’t pay too much attention to long snappers, but according to Rubio Long Snapping, Evans is the second-best in the 2024 class.
Evans will not be on scholarship to start, instead beginning his career as a preferred walk-on. Despite that arrangement, there is a path to bigger and better things available, especially at such an important position on the field.

Evans will have competition. The Buckeyes have three long snappers on the roster: John Ferlmann, a redshirt sophomore who transferred from from Arizona State, as well as junior walk-ons Collin Johnson and Max Lomonico.
OSU has had really good long snappers in recent memory, and one, Jake McQuaide, has carved out a long career in the NFL.
