NASCAR’s championship weekend receives a big update for 2025 and 2026

NASCAR’s championship weekend receives a big update for 2025 and 2026. Will Phoenix host the season finale or will NASCAR go elsewhere?

NASCAR’s championship weekend has been held at Phoenix Raceway since the 2020 season, but it hasn’t been without criticism. Several drivers and most of NASCAR’s fanbase don’t enjoy the racing at Phoenix and wish Homestead-Miami Speedway would return. Well, if they remain patient, NASCAR fans and drivers might get their wish.

According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, NASCAR is expected to hold its championship weekend at Phoenix in 2025, which will likely not be well-received. NASCAR has been attracted to Phoenix following its massive renovation as the area embraces the weekend. However, Homestead is pushing to re-acquire NASCAR’s championship race.

City officials agreed on a resolution to prepare a bid to bring championship weekend back to Homestead. According to Bianchi, Homestead is targeting the 2026 season, so Phoenix will likely host the 2025 event. Many within the NASCAR garage and fanbase hope a bid is successful, as Homestead provides fantastic racing with the NextGen car.
