Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott pitched a three-hit shutout for Team USA in its 7-0 exhibition victory over Chinese Taipei Sunday.

Abbott pitched a complete six-inning game, going six innings, recording 14 strikeouts. She totaled 81 pitches with 64 strikes.

Abbott competed for Team USA during the 2020 Olympics, winning a silver medal as the sport returned after a 12-year hiatus.

She and Team USA won a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Abbott played for Tennessee from 2004-07 and is one of the most decorated players in program history.

With the Lady Vols, Abbott compiled 189 victories and 2,440 strikeouts. She holds career records in innings pitched (1,448.0), appearances (253) and shutouts (112).
