Mississippi State’s Will Rogers releases statement about entering transfer portal

The Bulldogs quarterback thanked Mississippi State staff, fans, and teammates as he reflected on his time in Starkville.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers released a statement through social media on his decision to enter the transfer portal on Monday.

The senior thanked Mississippi State staff, teammates, and fans for their support during his four years in Starkville.

“I will carry my time at MSU forever, no matter where my path may lead,” his statement read.

Rogers also honored the late Mike Leach, his coach for the first few years in Starkville who passed away due to heart complications last December.

“I am thankful to have had the privilege of playing for Coach Leach, a legend and a friend,” Rogers wrote.

The Bulldogs quarterback, who was reported to enter the transfer portal earlier that same day, is second in SEC history with 12,135 career passing yards.
