Season series: Twins lead 7-5

After a 5-0 loss on Friday, the Twins dropped their 2nd straight game to the Royals 4-2 on Saturday. Starter Bailey Ober (7 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K) left with a 2-0 lead, but got a no-decision after the Royals rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Minnesota’s offense came from an RBI double from RF Matt Wallner and DH Jose Miranda RBI triple.

Kansas City looks to complete the sweep of their AL Central rivals, who they now lead by 1 1/2 games for 2nd place behind the Cleveland Guardians.  Starter Alec Marsh looked sharp in a no-decision (5 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 5K) with Daniel Lynch IV getting the win (3 IP, 1 H, 4 K). Kansas City is 44-30 at home.

Twins at Royals picks and predictions

Prediction

Royals 5, Twins 2

Moneyline

BET ROYALS (-120).

The Royals are in a great spot to finish off the sweep against the Twins on Sunday afternoon. They’ve been on a roll, winning 3 straight, and they’ve been solid in day games with a 28-25 record and a strong 3.60 team ERA. Plus, their offense has picked up since the All-Star break, hitting 20 points higher as a team.

On the flip side, the Twins are struggling, losing 4 of their last 5 games and only scoring 11 total runs. Wacha has been steady for Kansas City, giving up more than 2 ER just once in his last 7 starts. Meanwhile, Richardson hasn’t been able to pitch deep into games, going over 5 innings only once in his last 7 outings. With all this in mind, the Royals look like a solid bet to finish the sweep and take another win on the moneyline.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I don’t love the odds on the run line, so I’ll keep my focus on the moneyline bet.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (-110).

The past 3 meetings, including both games in this series, have stayed Under. On top of that, both the Royals and Twins have a 6-3-1 record against the Under in their last 10 games. Wacha has also been reliable, giving up just 2.1 ER per game over his last 7 starts. Expect a low-scoring affair.
