Mike Tomlin says Steelers will have a ‘Justin Fields package’

What kind of role with Justin Fields have with the Steelers? #GoBucks

The NFL season is just around the corner. For fans of Ohio State football, it’s fun to see how former Buckeyes perform at the next level. One we’ve been keeping an eye on is former OSU quarterback Justin Fields.

After a rough run with the Chicago Bears, Fields was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the off-season where he has been competing with veteran Russell Wilson for the starting job. Head coach Mike Tomlin recently named Wilson the starter which didn’t come as much of a surprise. However, Tomlin made some interesting comments when he appeared on the Rich Eisen Show earlier this week.

When asked about the opener against the Atlanta Falcons, Tomlin gave fans a little insight saying “My friend Raheem Morris better be ready for a Justin Fields package. I’ll just say that.”

Whether it’s all gamesmanship just to keep an opposing coach on his toes remains to be seen. But Tomlin would go on to suggest that Fields is too athletic not to be used.

“I don’t want to disclose any strategic approaches,” Tomlin said. “But there’s probably too much talent to be sitting around watching all day. you know what I mean?”

Fields has had an up-and-down preseason, but that should be expected when learning a new offense, but it certainly sounds like the Steelers have something in mind for the former Buckeye.
