Michigan football loses out on coveted 2024 Ohio CB

Bummer.

It was a valiant effort, but it wasn’t enough.

The Wolverines long pursued 2024 Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star cornerback Bryce West. He was one of two Ohio-based defensive backs Michigan football was working to wrest away from favorite Ohio State. The Wolverines were even in West’s top two.

The elite corner had eliminated USC and was down to the maize and blue and scarlet and gray. He was reportedly planning an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor last week (though that didn’t come to fruition).

However, while on his official visit to Columbus, West committed in a video that circulated on Friday evening, and he made his commitment to Ohio State official on Saturday.

Now the Wolverines will have to rely on the other four-star Ohio-based corner, Aaron Scott, thought to be an easier pull for the maize and blue than West. Scott, in addition to Cincinnati-based Terhyon Nichols, are likely the top two targets for Michigan football at the cornerback position.
