Michigan and Texas make home and home series official

It is officially official after initial reports of the series flipping were released back in February.

Two of the top programs in college football history will meet for the first time since the 2005 Rose Bowl. That season the Texas Longhorns defeated the Michigan Wolverines 38-37.

It was just one victory for Texas during their 21-game winning streak that spanned from 2004 to 2006. It began against Missouri Tigers until the Ohio State Buckeyes snapped the streak in Week 2 of the 2006 season.

On Tuesday, college football insider Bruce Feldman announced the two teams will play a home and home series in 2024 and 2027. While the report isn’t new, it was made official. Michigan will host Texas in Ann Arbor in 2024 and the Wolverines will return the favor in 2027 when they head to Austin.

The game was originally set to be played in Austin during the 2024 season but as Pete Thamel reported in February, this was key for allowing Texas and Oklahoma to leave for the SEC earlier than the 2025 season.

The Wolverines are coming off a 13-1 season where they won the Big Ten championship before falling to the TCU Horned Frogs in the CFP Semifinals. The Longhorns were 8-5 this past season after losing to the Washington Huskies in the Alamo Bowl.
