The Miami Marlins (29-52) and Philadelphia Phillies (53-28) play the 2nd game of a 4-game series Friday. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park is slated for 6:20 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Marlins won the series opener 7-4 Thursday as 3B Jake Burger broke a 4-4 tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run. LF Bryan De La Cruz also had a bases clearing double and scored on 1B Josh Bell‘s double. LHP Tanner Scott pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 11th save.

The 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins was the least of Philadelphia’s concerns because 1B Bryce Harper limped off the field after making the final out and LF Kyle Schwarber left the game earlier in the 9th inning with left groin tightness. DH Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and C Rafael Marchen had a solo HR. Despite the loss, the Phillies are 31-13 at home.

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Marlins 2

Moneyline.

PASS.

The Phillies (-245) will bounce back in a big way on Friday night but I’m not going to pay almost 2 1/2 units. I’ll put my money down on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET PHILLIES -1.5 (-118).

If you want an easy winner, whenever you see the Marlins face a lefty, put your money down on their opponent. Miami is 4-24 against southpaws and have an under .600 OPS for the season. They are also 6-17 against their NL East division rivals. Six of their last 7 losses have been by 2 or more runs. In fact, 5 of their last 7 losses have been by more than 3 runs which brings the alternative run line of Philadelphia -2.5 (+138) into play.

Over/Under

PASS.

I don’t love the trends toward this bet. I’m going to stay away because they are 5-4-1 against the Over in their last 10 meetings.

Also, in the last 10 games Miami is 5-5 against the Over and the Phillies are 4-6.
