The Minnesota Timberwolves (0-1) welcome the Miami Heat (1-1) to Target Center Saturday. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting of 2023.

The Timberwolves lost to the Toronto Raptors 97-94 on the road Wednesday. They failed to cover as a 1-point road underdog. As expected, G Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota, scoring 26 points. He was just 8-for-27 from the field, though. The Wolves aided in going way Under the 220.5 total in their first game of the season.

The Heat lost to the Boston Celtics 119-111 on the road Friday. Miami covered as a 9-point road underdog yet failed to cover as a 2.5-point home favorite in a 103-102 win over the Detroit Pistons to start its season Wednesday. The Heat are led by C Bam Adebayo, who is averaging 24.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Miami is 1-1 against the spread (ATS) and 1-1 O/U this season.

Heat at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 114, Heat 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Timberwolves will be at home for the first time this season and have the more potent offense. However, at -190, they aren’t worth playing to win outright on the moneyline.

Against the spread

LEAN TIMBERWOLVES -5.5 (-105).

The Timberwolves are going to shoot better than they did against the Raptors, and Edwards has proven enough throughout his career to assume he’ll bounce back at home.

With the Heat having played Friday, and this being their 3rd game in 4 days, fatigue could set in. With a similar roster, Miami was just 5-8-1 ATS last season with no rest.

Adebayo is the top defender for the Heat, and he will be facing C Rudy Gobert, who isn’t a huge factor offensively. Expect Minnesota to find its pace at home and cover. Take TIMBERWOLVES -5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 218.5 (-105).

The Heat only scored 103 against the Pistons to open the season but found their rhythm against Boston. With score-first players like G Tyler Herro, they should have the offensive firepower to keep pace with Minnesota.

The Wolves ranked 7th in pace last season and have a young roster capable of pushing the tempo. They shot just 34% from the field and 26% from deep to start the season.

Expect the Wolves offense to bounce back and take OVER 218.5 (-105).
