Men’s college golf team of the week: Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns earned a win and a top-five to claim the title of men’s college golf team of the week.

A trio of schools from the Big 12 made a strong case for men’s team of the week, but the Texas Longhorns ultimately earned the honor.

Led by individual champion Pierceson Coody and fellow junior Cole Hammer, Texas earned the win at its George Hannon Collegiate at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin on the 16th, then five days later finished third at the N.I.T. at Omni Tucson National in Arizona.

At the Hannon, Texas won by eight strokes over Texas Tech and Oklahoma (T-2, 9 under) and by 12 over Oklahoma State. The Cowboys would go on to win the N.I.T. at 47 under, four strokes clear of runner-up Oklahoma and 16 clear of Texas.
