Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Grizzlies (4-2) take a trip to Salt Lake City to visit the Utah Jazz (5-2) Monday. Tipoff from Vivint Arena is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Grizzlies vs. Jazz odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies come into this game off a 124-123 loss Saturday at this same Jazz team, failing to cover as 3.5-point favorites. Star G Ja Morant missed that game due to a non-covid-related illness. G Desmond Bane scored a phenomenal 32 points with 6 rebounds in Morant’s absence. The Grizzlies shot an astounding 44.4% from beyond the arc and 56.8% from the field in the loss.

The Jazz escaped with the win despite shooting worse from both the field (51.7%) and downtown (43.2%). F Kelly Olynyk and F Lauri Markkanen tied with a team-high 23 points. Olynk did so on 80% shooting from the field (8-of-10) whereas Markkanen shot 42.9% (9-of-21).

Grizzlies at Jazz picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 118, Grizzlies 104

Moneyline

LEAN JAZZ (+110).

This bet will hinge heavily on the health of the Grizzlies. If Morant and Bane play then the Grizzlies are way more likely to win this game, but if the Grizzlies are without their best players — and without their 3rd best player in Jackson Jr. — then they won’t have enough to beat this mostly healthy Jazz team.

Against the spread

LEAN JAZZ +2.5 (-112).

The Jazz should win this game if the stars for the Grizzlies do not play, but even if the stars play this bet is fairly safe. The Jazz are proving that they are not ready to enter rebuild mode just yet and are proving that they are a solid team in a loaded western conference.

Utah has shown that it can win against solid teams and I expect them to do that Monday.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 229.5 (-108).

Normally I would say to bet the Over in this game and I would feel very confident in doing so based on the fact that these teams would cover this over in almost every game each of them has played. However, because I have doubts about the Grizzlies’ health coming into this one I would bet my money on the Under.

When fully healthy the Grizzlies have one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, but without their top scorers, they will be missing a lot of production. Couple that with the Jazz and their mediocrity on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and the Under should be safer Monday.
