Matt Ryan creates fundraiser to help Atlanta’s black community

Earlier this week, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan called upon those in the community who haven’t been personally affected to “listen and learn.”

In wake of the protests over the murder of George Floyd, many athletes have spoken out against the unlawful police tactics that led to Floyd’s death. While these issues are anything but new within the black community, the presence of video in this case has opened the eyes of those around the country.

Earlier this week, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan called upon those who haven’t been personally affected to “listen and learn” during this time.

Ryan backed up his words by starting a GoFundMe fundraiser aimed at advancing the lives of Atlanta’s black community and donating $500,000:

Ryan’s fund — which you can donate to here — has raised $600,000 total towards the cause thus far.
