Matt Judon, Quinton Spain off the Lions free agency wishlist after the Ravens tagged Judon and the Bills re-signed Spain

Two players who were logical targets for the Detroit Lions in free agency will not be hitting the open market after all. Baltimore Ravens OLB Matt Judon and Buffalo Bills OG Quinton Spain will be staying with their respective teams in 2020, albeit under very divergent circumstances.

Judon will be franchise tagged by the Ravens according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That means the pass rusher will stick in Baltimore for the season, barring any sign-and-trade scenario or an agreement with the Ravens on a long-term deal. Judon is a Detroit-area native who attended D-II powerhouse Grand Valley State in Michigan. He had 54 tackles and 9.5 sacks a year ago and would be a natural fit for the JACK position in Detroit’s defense.

Spain is staying un Buffalo on his own volition. He agreed to terms with the Bills on a new 3-year contract before free agency begins. The beefy left guard is one of the more consistent interior pass protectors in the league and was a prime candidate to replace Graham Glasgow in Detroit. No word yet on the terms of his new contract in Buffalo.
