It was a great accomplishment to even end up in New York for a receiver, to have won the Heisman would have banked the odds significantly for Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the end, that was exactly the case with LSU’s Jayden Daniels taking home the 2023 bronze statue just ahead of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr., and third place finisher, Bo Nix of Oregon. Harrison finished in fourth place when all the ballots were tabulated.
It was still a great year for the Buckeye receiver. Despite being double-teamed almost every game, Harrison still finished with 67 receptions for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. That was good enough to win the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s best receiver, though only by one vote. He will go down as the only Ohio State receiver to put together back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons, having notched 1,263 yards in 2022.

And now, we wait to see if Harrison decides to turn pro or follow his heart and come back to Ohio State for one more year. The smart money is on mind over emotion eventually, but it’ll be awfully fun if he does come back to Columbus to run it back.
Congratulations are in order for Harrison despite the outcome Saturday night. He deserved to be a part of all the pomp and circumstance in the Big Apple.
