Not knowing what to do when beginning any Ultimate Team can be a daunting task at first glance, but thankfully, EA has implemented some easy challenges for players to take on first in Madden 23.
This is where you’ll need to start: completing the beginner challenges, followed by the challenges for Team Captains, Team Affinity, and Joe Burrow, will steadily improve your team.
None of these challenges are hard, as they’ll usually require you to score a TD by either rushing or passing or getting a certain number of yards. Regardless, this shouldn’t be complicated, and you’ll find yourself with a decent amount of packs, including some Headliners, which should grant you some 80+ OVR players.
Now that you’re equipped with the basics in MUT, you will want to improve your team via new players and packs. The latter is something you’ll earn throughout just playing the game, and the Field Pass, which is MUT’s version of a battle pass, is going to pay dividends towards improving your roster.
There are a whopping 140,000 coins for players to earn during Season 1, which lasts 60 days, and below are some of the main rewards players should grind toward by playing MUT.
- Level 5: Gold 70+ OVR Player Pack
- Level 9: 15x 70+ OVR Gold Players Bundle + 1x 74+ OVR Gold Player
- Level 11: 83 OVR Miles Sanders
- Level 21: 85 OVR Zach Cunningham
- Level 31: 87 OVR CeeDee Lamb
- Level 51: 91 OVR Dave Casper
Some nice additions to your team will be awarded here, along with coins to spend within the marketplace for players.
Speaking of players, there’s a ton for purchase within the in-game marketplace, which will become your second home while playing MUT.

Along with these players, the Auction House is where you’ll be able to bid, purchase, and sell players you no longer need on your roster. However, it can be rather pricey, as 89 OVR Jalen Hurts, who is regarded as the best QB for MUT at the release of the game, is going for around 550,000 coins.
