Mac Jones earns impressive player comparison from NFL analyst

Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is expected to be one of the first QBs drafted in the first round. Who could he resemble in the NFL?

Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was not expected to perform as well as he did in the 2020 college football season. Leading the Crimson Tide to national championship No. 18 and being a Heisman finalist was not something many thought would happen.

However, he did it, and is now expected to be a first-round quarterback in the 2021 NFL draft.

Where he may land is still a heavily debated topic. Though, some analysts believe that his abilities are similar to that of future Hall of Fame players.

Peter Schrager of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” believes that Jones’ ceiling could be as high as Drew Brees.

“The basement on Mac Jones, from everyone you talk to, the basement is Kirk Cousins,” Schrager told Andrew Siciliano. “The ceiling, if he’s unbelievable, and he’s the perfect prospect … might be Drew Brees.”

There are rumors circulating that Jones will be the No. 3 overall pick to San Francisco, however others think that the 49ers could go with Ohio State’s Justin Fields instead.
