Lucky No. 13: The battle at wide receiver for Texas-Kansas State game

The Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats both feature 6’4″ pass catchers who wear No. 13. So who has the advantage in this game?

The wide receiver matchup for the Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats features two 6’4″ pass catchers who wear No. 13.

The Wildcats have junior wideout Chabastin Taylor, he is currently third on the team in receptions and yards this season. Their top receiver is the running back we covered in the running backs tale of the tape, Deuce Vaughn. Kansas State hasn’t had quite the success through the air with freshman Will Howard that they had with Skylar Thompson.

For most of the season, the top pass-catching threat was Joshua Moore. As of late, that man is Brennan Eagles. He now leads the team in receptions, yards, and yards per catch among starters. Eagles still slightly behind Moore in touchdowns. Against the Iowa State defense, Sam Ehlinger and Eagles got the offense started early with the deep ball.

Edge: Brennan Eagles

When it comes to throwing the ball, the Longhorns have the advantage with Ehlinger under center. Eagles has shown to be the best deep threat for the Longhorns. With his long strides and size, he can be a tough matchup for any defender. If the offensive line can hold up against the Kansas State front without Samuel Cosmi and possibly Derek Kerstetter, look for No. 13 to take advantage down the field.
