LSU’s Paul Skenes wins the Dick Howser Trophy

The Dick Howser Trophy is given to the national player of the year.

America’s Ace, [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag], is the winner of the Dick Howser Trophy. The [autotag]Dick Howser Trophy[/autotag] is awarded to the National Player of the Year.

The three finalists for the award were Skenes, his teammate [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], and Florida’s Jac Caglianone. At the end of the day, Skenes came out on top. Skenes has a 12-2 record this season with a 1.77 ERA, 188 strikeouts and 18 walks in 107 innings pitched.

He has been in a league of his own this year and he amped up his game for the regional and super regional. He pitched a complete game victory against Tulane in the regional as he gave up two runs over nine innings and struck out 12 hitters.

In the super regional against Kentucky, Skenes gave up zero runs on four hits in 7.2 innings pitched. He struck out nine hitters and only walked one as he led the Tigers to a huge win in game one.

Skenes will take the mound once again this Saturday as LSU plays Tennessee in Omaha.
