LSU remains a prime contender for this 4-star Louisiana EDGE

The Tigers are in a good spot for Kolaj Cobbins, but there’s a lot of competition for the No. 5 player in the Boot.

LSU is off to a nice start in 2024 with eight players committed in a class that currently ranks in the top five. But there’s one uncommitted player who coach Brian Kelly really wants to land: four-star Destrehan edge rusher [autotag]Kolaj Cobbins[/autotag].

Cobbins — who is rated in the top 200 nationally and is the No. 5 prospect in the state of Louisiana — has taken several visits to LSU, most recently in January. He spoke highly of that trip to On3’s Sam Spiegelman (subscription required), particularly of his interactions with Kelly, who he said told him that he was a “need.”

The Tigers aren’t without competition, though. Cobbins has locked in an official visit to Michigan on March 24, and he’s also eying trips to Oregon and Colorado. Per Spiegelman, Ole Miss’ addition of former Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding also keeps the Rebels in the mix.

LSU will have to battle if it wants to land Cobbins, but it remains the favorite per On3 at 36.8% followed by Ole Miss.
