LSU locks down official visit with top prospect in Mississippi

LSU will get the top player in Mississippi on a official visit later this year.

The newest LSU assistant is getting to work on the recruiting trail.

LSU defensive line coach [autotag]Jimmy Lindsey[/autotag] will get DL [autotag]Kamarion Franklin[/autotag] to take an official visit to LSU.

According to On3, Lindsey established a relationship while recruiting Franklin to South Carolina. Now that Lindsey’s at LSU, he’s continuing that recruitment. Franklin will visit LSU despite leaving the Tigers out of his original top 10.

Franklin’s recruitment will be a key one for LSU this cycle. It’s possible LSU loses defensive tackles [autotag]Maason Smith[/autotag] and [autotag]Mekhi Wingo[/autotag] to the draft next spring, so [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and crew need to start thinking about the future of that interior defensive line.

The news of Franklin’s official visit is a positive development for LSU, but there’s still a long way to go here.

Lindsey already picked up one DT commit since arriving at LSU. He landed in-state DT [autotag]De’Myrion Johnson[/autotag] earlier this week. According to ESPN, Johnson is the sixth-best player in the state and a top 300 prospect overall.
