Former star LSU and MLB pitcher [autotag]Paul Byrd[/autotag] will be a part of the latest induction class for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. He will take part in an induction ceremony in Natchitoches, Louisiana, this weekend, which runs from Thursday to Saturday.
A pitcher at LSU from 1989-91, Byrd was an All-American selection in his final season after leading the Tigers to a College World Series title in 1991. That same year, he became a fourth-round pick in the MLB draft.
A career journeyman in the Major Leagues, Byrd had a lengthy career that lasted from 1995-09. He was named an MLB All-Star during the 1999 season while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Since retiring, Byrd has become a three-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster covering the Atlanta Braves. He’s currently taking the 2023 season off as his wife Kim battles a medical issue.
