[lawrence-newsletter]Texas star wide receiver Xavier Worthy is unveiling a new look against Washington in the Alamo Bowl this week.
The sophomore pass catcher is changing his number from No. 8 to No. 1. The transfer of quarterback Hudson Card allows Worthy to go back to his high school number.
Worthy had a bit of a down year compared to his breakout freshman campaign. He still finished with 678 receiving yards, 10 total touchdowns and second-team All-Big 12 honors. Inconsistency at the quarterback position hindered Worthy’s big-play ability at times.
Texas is going to need a big game out of its top wideout against a potent Washington offense in the bowl game. Washington ranks in the bottom half of the country in passing defense, providing an excellent chance for Worthy to end the season on a high note.
Here is the first look at Worthy rocking the No. 1 during practice.
